About This Spot

Walking into Pho Ly feels like stepping into a modest, unassuming corner of Vietnam nestled right in Bellingham’s Meridian Street strip. It’s the kind of place where the world slows down just enough to appreciate the quiet hum of a kitchen where every broth simmers with care. The pace here isn’t rushed, but there’s an earnest energy in the air — a rhythm set by the two owners who tend to the space and their guests with palpable dedication.

This isn’t a spot polished to perfection or crafted for Instagram moments, but rather a plainly honest nook where the heart of Vietnamese home cooking is evident in every bowl. The room itself carries the gentle wear of a local favorite that’s more about substance than style. You won’t find art on the walls or sleek décor, but you will find warmth in how meals arrive swiftly, often under the watchful eye of the couple who run the place.

Here, pho is more than just a dish — it’s an experience grounded in tradition, brimming with a broth that hints at hours of slow, tender simmering. The comforting sizzle of fresh spring rolls or the humble crackle of egg rolls adds texture and nostalgia to the meal, while generous portions ensure that hunger takes a back seat. There’s a satisfying simplicity in this menu, where every ingredient feels thoughtfully selected rather than overworked.

What lingers most, beyond the flavors, is the sense of familiarity: a place where regulars pause not just for the food, but for the sincere connection offered by the owners, who often remember your favorite order or greet you with a warm, genuine smile. In a city of polished eateries and evolving food trends, Pho Ly quietly stands as a testament to honest cooking and the humble joy of being known.

Amazing lil spot. I had the Seafood Pho and my brothers had the Combination Pho. The broth was amazing as well as the portion sizes. We alao did have the spring roll, while it tasted good the wrapping was not tight and secure, once I picked it up, noodles and meat was falling apart, but the taste was still delicious.

The owner and his wife are some of the hardest working restaurant owners I think I've ever seen. It ain't the prettiest place to eat, but more often than not, the pho is flavorful and hot and served as fast as they can provide. It's usually just the two of them, so you gotta give them some grace. But, they're always happy to see you and after going frequently, he might even remember your usual order. I've gone in and boom, there's my bowl of pho. The egg rolls are amazing too, super crunchy.

Great spot for a snowy hungover meal. The owners are super nice and they were pretty quick with their service even during a busy time . The pho was really good and flavorful ecspecially with all the amazing pho toppings. Not a bad pho place to visit.

Very unassuming place. The place is a dump and could use a good cleaning and organizing. The food ordered was delicious. I wish the pho ga was chicken broth. It’d align with the idea that is actually chicken soup. I ordered a chicken noodle dish that was surprisingly delicious.

Listen to the Asian people cuz this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in town imo. The owners are very nice and the portions compared other restaurants are huge. More importantly, their pho has less msg than the other restaurants so you won’t get thirsty. Highly recommend their beef stew noodle soup

If you are coming for atmosphere and service, it probably isn't for you. But if your goal is the best food a dive can offer, you won't be disapointed! This is the place to find authenticity and flavors that the other upscale restaurants in Bellingham just can’t deliver! Their chicken curry is the best by far.

Definitely my favorite pho place in town. Probably my favorite fried rice as well. The food is exactly the same every time you go and the service is super friendly. Absolutely love this place.
